Bacillus anthracis (Anthrax) Resource Guide

      

Bacillus anthracis secretes three proteins: protective antigen (PA), edema factor (EF) and lethal factor (LF) which combine to produce lethal toxin (PA + LF) and edema toxin (PA + EF). The structures of these proteins have been deciphered and are available at the Protein Data Bank.

A list of anthrax structures retrieved from the PDB database was obtained from the NIH Molecules To Go Utility by a keyword "anthracis" search. Results can be seen here. The structures are presented with their corresponding PDB ID, NCBI Protein Accession, PubMed ID and Description. NCBI Protein Accessions display protein sequences representing distinct chains of the three Bacillus anthracis proteins and were retrieved from a keyword search of NCBI's protein database, using the terms: "anthracis PA", "anthracis EF", and "anthracis LF".
